Does BCG vaccine protect you from getting the coronavirus disease?
There is no evidence that the Bacille Calmette-Guérin vaccine (BCG) protects people against infection with COVID-19 virus.
Two clinical trials addressing this question are underway, and WHO will evaluate the evidence when it is available.
In the absence of evidence, WHO does not recommend BCG vaccination for the prevention of COVID-19.

COVID-19 is a respiratory illness and the primary transmission route is through person-to- person contact and through direct contact with respiratory droplets generated when an infected person coughs or sneezes. There is no evidence to date of viruses that cause respiratory illnesses being transmitted via food or food packaging. Using available preliminary data, the median time from onset to clinical recovery for mild cases is approximately 2 weeks and is 3-6 weeks for patients with severe or critical disease.
